Service Men and Woman
So I was just watching the newest episode of the Real World. There is a boy on the show named Ryan. He is a decorated solider. He served his time in the Army. He got called back to go fight again in the war. He did his active duty and was on his four years inactive. I cried during this show!
Most of you know that my brother Richard is a United States Marine. I can remember the day he left for boot camp. I had just graduated high school and had just gotten back from a trip with the Langton's to the river. My mom called and we were still unpacking the car. She told me that my brother was leaving that day and that I'd better get home so I could see him. I sat down and all I could do is cry. It was after 9/11/01 and I knew that he would be fighting in that war sooner then later. I did not want to see him go.
His first tour was so hard for me. I was able to talk to him a few times and write emails all the time. He went through a ton on that tour but it was good to know that he was with his good friend Steve and that they could watch over each other. Steve is like another brother to me. He got through his first tour and mom and I were there to greet him and Steve when they got home. It was such a great feeling to be able to see him and give him a hug. Richard never did tell me about what happened over there. I think he wanted to not scare me in case he had to go back
He was home for about 7 months and he got called to serve again this time I think it was even harder. He now had a girlfriend! I was not the one he called when he could call someone, I was not the one that he wrote to daily. I had no idea if he was ok or not most of the time. It was so scary. I had to her through her how he was it was crazy.
When he was getting home I made shirts and we made a sign. I was so nervous. I made sure that I was the first one to see him and give him a hug. His girl friend was not too happy with this but I'm the sister and I get what I want.
Now he is about to get out of active duty at the end of April. He had a chance to go on another tour and he turned it down so he can start new and be a civilian again. You know what I was actually going to try to get him to go! now I'm thinking I was crazy but he will be out soon and be safe. But even then there is inactive duty that they can call him back when ever they want. They own him. Just like Ryan.

Every time I see a soldier, I want to cry. I am so thankful for everything that all the military personnel do for our country! They're great and I am glad that there are people that are willing to fight for me.
